All Muslims Are Not Terrorists!

BLAME THE TERRORISTS

The problem isn't the word. It isn't the culture. It is the stereotypes. People form stereotypes based on preconceived notions, and public perceptions. Muslims are not the only victims of such unenlightened thought.

I have heard many times people say that atheists have no moral base because morals can only be derived from the belief in a god. Then I hear of terrorist Christians giving notes, or messages to teachers threatening death if they teach evolution. I've never heard of an Atheist threatening Christians for teaching Creationist theory. I'm not saying it never happens. I just haven't heard of it. If they did, I would call them terrorists.

Human beings in general are still an unenlightened species. Baser instincts and childish self interest rules most. People let other people feed them thought. That thought dictated by self interests. Like Rush Limbaugh, and the people who devour his hate mongering. He does it for money, and personal satisfaction.

I understand this young man's point, but think it is a problem that goes much deeper than just the labeling of all Muslims as terrorists. It is a problem of making stereotypes. I can think of many that are so idiotic.

All black persons are crooks.
All whites are prejudiced.
All Muslims are terrorists.
All Christians are anti-knowledge.
All Atheists are immoral.
All pit bull dogs are dangerous.

The list goes on, and on, and on. We all probably are guilty of behavior and thought like that. That is because we are all humans. Primitive of thought and action. Problems solved by punitive action first. Lashing out at that which we do not understand because of primitive fear.

Keep working to destroy the notion that Muslims are death dealing, intolerant ideologues. Do it from without and most importantly from within. Persons committing murderous acts then yelling "Allahu Akbar" don't help matters. Imams saying that it is proper to put a person to death for blasphemy doesn't help matters. Perhaps a stronger anti-violence stand is called for. The actions by the reasonable, peaceful Muslims doesn't seem to be enough to counter the radical thought of persons like Rush Limbaugh or Fox News, or who ever else has such a narrow point of view as to call all Muslims terrorists.
